Sharon Bowen to Assume the Role of NYSE Chair

Sharon Bowen, an ICE and NYSE Board Member, one of the nation’s leading finance and securities lawyers, and formerly a Commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), will become the next Chair of the NYSE, according to a statement on Monday by ICE (Intercontinental Exchange) CEO Jeff Sprecher.

Sharon Bowen boasts 32-year broad and diverse corporate and transactional practice. She joined the ICE Board of Directors in December 2017, now serves on the boards of certain NYSE U.S. regulated exchanges and co-chairs the NYSE Board Advisory Council. On February 12, 2010, Sharon Bowen confirmed by the U.S. Senate and named by President Obama to serve as Vice Chair of the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). She became Acting Chair in March 2012. Also, she was a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins LLP.
