OANDA Executive Sam Eder Departs to Start marketmates.com

Fazzaco has learned that Sam Eder, the Head of Emerging Markets at OANDA, a prominent online broker, has resigned from his position and co-founded a new trading services-focused website, marketmates.com.

With approximately 15 years of experience in the FX and CFD industry, Eder announced his new role as CEO & Co-Founder at marketmates.com on LinkedIn on Thursday (February 1).

Notably, this is not Eder's first venture. In September 2014, he partnered with Mike Collins to acquire FX Renew, a provider of forex trading signals from Ex Bank and Hedge Fund traders. However, the business finally came to an end in May 2019.

Eder's tenure at OANDA marked the longest period of his career. He initially joined the broker in May 2016 as Head of Sales for Asia Pacific and subsequently held positions such as Growth Manager of Emerging Markets and, most recently, Head of Emerging Markets. Prior to OANDA, Eder also held leadership roles in sales and customer service at financial services companies including Invast Securities and GFT Markets.

Though the specific details of marketmates.com's business remain undisclosed at present.
