Equity Edge, a prop trading company based in the UK, experienced a disruption in its trading services due to the loss of access to the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) trading platform yesterday.

Equity Edge said that the MT5 it uses was provided by its broker partners. However, the company did not disclose the name of its partner or the exact reason behind the sudden issue.

In response to the incident, Equity Edge issued an apology statement on the social media platform X, explaining: "Our broker has been facing issues with Platform 5, which has caused all accounts to be invalid."

It also offered a solution, announcing: "We are pleased to inform you that we have onboarded with MatchTrade, and all accounts will be merged to MatchTrade on Wednesday."

The company assured traders that they will be fully operational by Wednesday with all balances accurately transferred.

To compensate for the inconvenience caused, Equity Edge stated that they will be offering a gift to all affected traders on Wednesday. Specific details have not yet been revealed.

It is worth mentioning that some traders suggested using alternative trading platforms like TradeLocker or cTrader as an alternative to MT5, and Equity Edge responded by saying "try."

In February this year, licensing restrictions imposed by MetaQuotes on prop trading platforms prompted many prop trading companies to migrate to other platforms such as DX Trade, MatchTrader, TradeLocker, or cTrader to ensure uninterrupted operations. Fazzaco has provided further details on this topic in the article "A Timeline of the 'February Diaspora' of Prop Firms".

Furthermore, the Match-Trader trading platform has also raised concerns among some prop trading participants. Recently, Match-Trade Technologies terminated its Match-Trader license with SurgeTrader, a prop trading firm based in Florida, causing further severe disruptions for the latter, who subsequently issued a suspension announcement last Friday.
