ANZ Appoints Ender Tanar to Lead Japan Operations

ANZ has named Ender Tanar as its new country head for Japan, a position that will require regulatory approval before becoming official. Tanar has served as the bank's country head for Germany for seven years and previously worked in senior positions at Lloyds Bank, Mizuho, KPMG, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
He will report to Simon Ireland, ANZ's managing director for international operations. In announcing the appointment, Ireland highlighted the bank's outlook for its Japanese business. "There are significant opportunities in Japan, particularly in our Markets, Financial Institutions, and Debt Capital Markets businesses," he said. "I'm confident Ender is the right person to take our business in Japan into the next chapter."
Ireland also emphasized that the role was filled internally, saying it demonstrated "the breadth and depth of leadership we have across our international network." ANZ has maintained operations in Japan since 1969, making it one of the bank's long-standing overseas markets.
