Marqeta Confirms Mike Milotich as CEO

Card issuing platform Marqeta, Inc. has appointed Mike Milotich as Chief Executive Officer and member of its board of directors, effective immediately. Milotich had been serving as interim CEO since February 2025, alongside his role as Chief Financial Officer.

Milotich joined Marqeta after a career spanning major payments firms. At Visa, he served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations, overseeing business performance, corporate outlook, and M&A assessments. He previously held positions at PayPal and American Express in business analysis and strategy.

"I'm excited to lead Marqeta at this pivotal time for our company," Milotich said in a statement. "We've made significant progress in advancing our strategic initiatives and sharpening our focus on execution, and I believe in our ability to further accelerate this work as we move forward." He added that he looks forward to "continuing to work alongside our talented team" to drive innovation and customer growth.

The company's board of directors will now begin the search for a new Chief Financial Officer, with the assistance of an executive search firm. Milotich will continue to serve as CFO until a replacement is identified.

Milotich holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MBA from New York University. His appointment formalises a leadership transition at Marqeta as it seeks to capture broader market opportunities in modern card issuing.
