Adyen Appoints Former Cash App Exec Tom Adams as New CTO

Adyen, a Dutch payments processor, has named Tom Adams as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), pending shareholder approval at an upcoming extraordinary general meeting (EGM). Adams, who previously served as head of engineering at Cash App, will take over the strategic and technological vision of Adyen's single platform, which integrates payments, data, and financial products.

Adams is set to replace Alexander Matthey, who has been with Adyen for nearly a decade and served as CTO for the past three years. Matthey's decision to step down was influenced by the challenges of balancing his leadership role with his family life in Berlin. Reflecting on his tenure, Matthey stated, "Balancing leading Adyen based out of Amsterdam and the company's many global offices with my family life in Berlin has driven my decision to not commit for another four years."
