Akihiko Yamada Named Head of TMT, Investment Banking for Barclays Japan

Barclays today announced the appointment of Akihiko Yamada as Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT), Investment Banking, Japan, for Barclays Securities Japan Limited, with effect from 1 July 2023.

Based in Tokyo, Yamada reports to Yuhiko Yano, Head of Investment Banking, Japan, and Vice Chairman, Barclays Securities Japan.

He boasts over 17 years of extensive experience in TMT client coverage. According to the official press release, he has expertise at originating and executing complex M&A transactions, and has worked with Capital Markets teams to deliver equity and debt financing solutions.

Prior to Barclays, Yamada served Bank of America for 15 years, most recently holding the position of Managing Director in the Technology Group of Investment Banking Division. Earlier, he worked at Goldman Sachs. In addition, he served Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade & Industry (METI).
