Andrew Loong Appointed as MD and Head of Digital Assets of HKEX

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced today the addition of Andrew Loong to the group as Managing Director and Head of Digital Assets.

Andrew is a seasoned lawyer and banker with expertise in debt capital markets (DCM), finance and digital assets. He has over two decades of work experience from both top-tier international law firms in Hong Kong and London and global financial institutions.

Most recently, Andrew oversaw digital asset product and operation development at a Singapore-based digital family office. From January 2021 and June 2022, he was at BC Technology Group, Asia's leading publicly traded technology and digital asset company, as Head of Security Token Offering Structuring, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Prior to that, Andrew served Mizuho Securities Asia Limited for more than two years as Head of Transaction Management, Debt Capital Markets Asia. He has spent about five years at Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited as Head of Capital Markets Execution, Asia. His positions in banking also included Director of Legal at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities and Director, Head of Transaction Management, DCM Asia at RBS Global Banking & Markets.

Earlier, Andrew held the role of Associate at Allen & Overy then Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and Senior Associate at Johnson Stokes and Master.

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law, Sydney, and a Post-graduate Diploma in European Competition Law from the University of London, King’s College.

This appointment comes after HKEX's hiring Patrick Khong​ as Managing Director and Co-Head of Data and Analytics.
