Axelar Foundation Establishes Institutional Advisory Board, Appoints Brian Brooks
Axelar Foundation has established an Institutional Advisory Board and appointed Brian Brooks as a member. The nonprofit organization, which supports the adoption of Axelar Network, a decentralized blockchain interoperability platform, aims to address regulatory and institutional needs in blockchain technology.
Brooks, formerly Acting Comptroller of the Currency and Chief Legal Officer at Coinbase, emphasized that blockchain interoperability plays a crucial role in expanding the accessibility of tokenized financial assets, including stablecoins. He stated that interoperability infrastructure must be decentralized and secure to support financial institutions integrating blockchain-based solutions.
As financial institutions prepare for wider adoption of stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets, their need for cross-chain connectivity has been analyzed in a white paper co-authored by Axelar Foundation and Metrika. The research includes insights from Citi, Deutsche Bank, Mastercard, and Northern Trust, outlining the requirements for institutional interoperability.
Axelar Network facilitates blockchain connectivity, with adoption from firms such as Uniswap and Microsoft, and support from investors including Binance, Coinbase, Dragonfly, Galaxy, and Polychain. The Axelar Foundation’s Institutional Advisory Board is expected to contribute to the platform’s development amid increasing regulatory discussions around blockchain-based financial products.
