The global financial market remains in a state of flux. The Fed announced it will continue to keep monetary policy tight to combat inflation for the foreseeable future. Many economists are predicting a recession in 2024.

To prepare for significantly tougher times ahead, US accounting giant Grant Thornton LLP is conducting its another round of job cut this week, with 200 employees being impacted.

Fintech Snap slashed around 20 product management roles, and Oportun Financial is trimming 18% of its staff.

Besides, Citigroup is considering further laying off 10% in major businesses as part of its reorganization plan. Reportedly, chiefs of staff and chief administrative officers across the company will be dismissed this month.

Equity management startup Carta let go its workforce, marking at leased its third layoff this year. Hargreaves Lansdown, a UK investment and online trading firm, proposed reduction to exec bonuses.

Moreover, UK credit card management app Cardeo is winding down, citing failure to find fresh investment to keep the firm afloat.

Given the state of the broader economy, the current employment environment is far from ideal.
