Barclays Corporate and Investment Bank yesterday announced that it has added Dion Di Miceli and Andrew Davies to its newly created team, which is focused on offering equity markets products and services to investment company clients in the UK, and will include both Investment Banking and Global Markets colleagues.

According to the official press release, Dion Di Miceli has joined Barclays UK Corporate Broking team, heading Investment Banking coverage of investment companies. Andrew Davies will join in June to take charge of the Equity Sales activity for investment company clients. They will co-lead the new team, and collaborate with Sean McPherson, who joined Barclays last year to lead equity trading of investment companies.

Dion is a leading corporate adviser to the UK Investment Companies sector with 20-years' experience advising boards and fund management groups on corporate transactions, strategic priorities and growth. Previously, he was the Head of Investment Companies and a Director at Gravis Capital Management, with which he has been for more than 6 years. Prior to Gravis, Dion served as a senior corporate adviser at Cenkos Securities where he has spent 9 years and advised listed investment companies and fund management groups across a broad range of transactions.

Andrew has profound experience in the investment companies sector and strong relationships with both investors and boards. He joins Barclays from Liberum Capital, where he worked as Head of Alternative Funds Sales and has been for 7 years. Before that, he was Head of Fund Sales at Edmond de Rothschild Securities. Also, he has spent 5 years at Cenkos Securities in its institutional sales team for investment company clients.

In his new role, Dion will report to Robert Mayhew, Head of Corporate Broking. Andrew will report to Anita Tanna, Head of EMEA Equity Sales.

"Investing in areas where we see opportunities to expand our capabilities is key a part of the growth strategy for the Corporate and Investment Bank. Investment companies present an exciting opportunity, and the strength of experience of Dion, Andrew and Sean, combined with our existing comprehensive banking and markets platform in the UK will enable us to provide these clients with integrated and differentiated advice and distribution," said Alisdair Gayne, Head of UK Investment Banking.

Last week, Fazzaco reported that Barclays has named Hossein Zaimi as Head of Markets for Asia Pacific, as it continues to build on its leading position and invest in growing its Asia Pacific franchise.
