Barclays Appoints Ee-Ching Tay As Head of Southeast Asia Banking

Fazzaco learned that Barclays has announced the appointment of Ee-Ching Tay as Head of Southeast Asia Banking. 

Ms Tay is taking over from Sandeep Pahwa, who has led Barclays South-east Asia banking since November 2010. Mr Pahwa will continue to serve as the vice-chairman and head of Asia-Pacific client coverage at Barclays.

According to the official press release, Ms Tay will be based in Singapore, and will report to Vanessa Koo, Head of Banking for Asia Pacific and Greater China at Barclays.

Ms Tay brings with 20+ years of investment banking and private equity experience in the US and Asia. Prior to joining Barclays, she previously served as Head of Southeast Asia mergers and acquisitions at JPMorgan, where she worked for a decade. As seen on her Linkedin profile, Ms Tay left UBS in 2011 after spending 8 years with the bank. Over the course of her career, Ms Tay also worked at Standard Chartered Bank for three years.

In her new role, Ms Tay will be responsible for further growing Barclays' banking franchise in South-east Asia, with a focus on driving mergers & acquisitions (M&A) advisory and financing. In addition, she will also lead and cultivate the bank's most senior client relationships and manage the team covering key corporate clients, financial institutions, financial sponsors and government agencies in the region.
