United Fintech has added Barclays as a strategic investor, expanding its shareholder base, which already includes BNP Paribas, Citi, Danske Bank, and Standard Chartered. All five banks have taken stakes in the fintech holding company within the past two years.

The investment gives Barclays a seat on United Fintech’s Board of Directors. The company said the move supports deeper collaboration between established financial institutions and technology providers.

United Fintech, founded by Christian Frahm, continued its expansion in 2025 with two additional acquisitions, bringing its portfolio to seven fintech firms. The group now operates 11 offices worldwide and employs more than 200 staff.

Ryan Hayward, Head of Strategic Investments at Barclays, said the bank sees the partnership as a way to support industry-wide digital transformation. He noted that United Fintech’s model of scaling proven innovation aligns with Barclays’ long-term technology strategy.

The company stated that its recent acquisitions expanded its capabilities across commercial banking, capital markets, and investment management. United Fintech aims to provide financial institutions with streamlined access to integrated technology solutions, including tools supporting secure and efficient deployment of AI-enabled systems.

Frahm said Barclays’ investment strengthens the firm’s position as a collaborative ecosystem for banks adopting new technologies. He emphasized the increasing importance of industry partnerships as AI adoption accelerates.

Claus Harder, Head of Group Strategy and M&A at Danske Bank, welcomed Barclays to the investor group. He said the combined backing of global banks reinforces United Fintech’s ability to deliver market-ready innovation with strong governance.

Founded in 2020, United Fintech focuses on acquiring and integrating established fintech solutions for banks, asset managers, and wealth managers. The company maintains offices in major financial hubs, including London, New York, Copenhagen, Singapore, and the UAE.
