BBVA Switzerland Expands Cryptoasset Offering to Include Ethereum

BBVA Switzerland, the Swiss franchise of Spanish financial group BBVA, yesterday announced that it has expanded its cryptocurrency custody and trading service with the addition of Ethereum (ETH).

With this new addition, the bank becomes the first traditional bank in Europe to incorporate ether into its service. BBVA Switzerland's private banking clients and customers with a New Gen account will be able to manage both bitcoins and this cryptocurrency.

Let's recall that, in June this year, BBVA launched a new cryptoasset offering in Switzerland to complement investment offering available in traditional financial assets for Private Banking clients. Since then, the bank has seen a substantial increase in interest from its clients. With the addition of Ethereum, the financial services provider aims to meet the growing demand for diversified crypto offerings.

According to the official press release, the goal of BBVA Switzerland is to continue expanding the portfolio of digital assets in the coming months. With this innovative offer, BBVA has positioned itself as a leading bank in the adoption of blockchain technology, thus making it easier for its customers to invest in this new digital world.

As Fazzaco reported earlier, BBVA has launched free digital retail banking in Italy​. The bank's Italian customers will benefit from a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week telephone and remote customer service.
