Bgin Blockchain Files for $50 Million US IPO Amid Growing Competition in Crypto Mining Equipment Market
Bgin Blockchain, a Singapore-based manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining equipment, has filed for an initial public offering (IPO) with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), aiming to raise up to $50 million. The company, which focuses on mining equipment for alternative cryptocurrencies, is targeting a Nasdaq listing under the symbol BGIN.
The filing, submitted on February 21, 2025, details the issuance of approximately 59.54 million Class A shares and 15.69 million Class B shares. While the exact pricing terms were not disclosed, the company is expected to generate substantial capital from the offering. Bgin Blockchain, established in 2019, is primarily known for its proprietary mining rigs designed for mining Kaspa (KAS), Alephium (ALPH), and Radiant (RXD) coins.
In the fiscal year 2023, Bgin Blockchain reported the sale of nearly 68,000 mining rigs, with 47,000 units sold in the first half of 2024 alone. The company's revenues are heavily reliant on the sales of its proprietary mining machines, which have become a significant part of its business since launching in April 2023.
Despite its apparent growth, Bgin Blockchain operates in a highly competitive and volatile sector where many other crypto-focused companies are also preparing for public offerings. The crypto market, already dealing with market swings and regulatory scrutiny, faces additional challenges in the form of new entrants and established firms looking to go public.
The funds raised through the IPO are expected to support the company's ongoing research and development efforts. Additionally, Bgin Blockchain has a growing footprint in U.S. mining operations, hosting over 4,000 rigs and owning approximately 33,000 active mining rigs across various facilities in the United States.
As the crypto mining sector continues to mature, Bgin Blockchain’s move to go public is seen as a step to strengthen its position amid intensifying competition. The outcome of the offering remains uncertain, especially as the broader market for cryptocurrency equipment faces regulatory hurdles and ongoing demand fluctuations.
