Binance Embeds Event Trading into Its Wallet as Prediction Markets Grow into Core Infrastructure

Binance has introduced "Event Rush" as a native feature in its official wallet, positioning prediction markets as a core trading component rather than a separate product. This development signals a broader industry trend where wagering on real-world outcomes is becoming a standard element of digital finance infrastructure.

The feature operates on the 42.space protocol on BNB Chain, enabling users to trade "Event Tokens" linked to sports results, cryptocurrency price targets, and news events. Unlike conventional order-book-based prediction markets, Binance employs a bonding curve mechanism, ensuring dynamic pricing based on demand and immediate liquidity for all events.

Binance's move reflects a wider shift in the sector as competition increasingly focuses on user access and distribution channels. Coinbase has articulated a similar "Everything Exchange" strategy by integrating Kalshi, while Bitget Wallet has emphasized digital wallets as the primary interface for discovery, visualization, and execution.

"The category is shifting from building markets to making them easier to access and understand at scale," said Alvin Kan, COO of Bitget Wallet. Embedding such tools reduces the distance between a user's capital and their view on an outcome.

This integration of prediction markets faces significant regulatory scrutiny. New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit in April against Coinbase and Gemini, alleging their prediction market platforms constitute illegal gambling operations. The lawsuit challenges the rebranding of speculative wagering as "event contracts" or "financial instruments," viewing it as a tactic to evade gaming taxes and consumer protections.

The wallet-as-interface model offers superior scale and engagement compared to standalone prediction markets but also forces platforms to navigate unresolved jurisdictional disputes.
