Bitget Launches IPO Prime with Tokenized SpaceX Pre-IPO Offering

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has introduced IPO Prime, a platform for tokenized exposure to pre-IPO assets, with its first product, preSPAX, linked to SpaceX. The Republic-issued token aims to track SpaceX's valuation post-filing, though it does not confer share ownership or company endorsement.
The launch coincides with reports of SpaceX's confidential IPO filing, with valuations estimated between $1.75 trillion and $2 trillion. Bitget will allocate tokens via a tiered subscription from April 18-21, with secondary trading expected to start April 21.
This reflects a trend of crypto platforms tokenizing access to private assets, historically limited to institutions. Tokenization creates tradable instruments for 24/7 exposure within crypto environments. Similar offerings exist from PreStocks, Orderbook, and Republic, alongside traditional platforms like Nasdaq Private Market.
Bitget's move aligns with a broader "universal exchange" strategy to integrate traditional assets, mirroring efforts by Bitpanda, Kraken, and Coinbase to become multi-asset platforms. Success hinges on transparent integration and regulatory compliance.
However, tokenized pre-IPO products differ structurally from direct equity, lacking voting rights, dividends, or legal claims. Pricing and tracking depend on secondary market liquidity and may diverge from IPO valuations. Regulatory scrutiny is expected as distribution scales.
