BitGo Shares Jump on IPO Debut Before Retreating Toward Offer Price

BitGo’s Class A shares began trading under the ticker BTGO following an initial public offering priced at $18 per share. The IPO raised approximately $212.8 million and valued the company at more than $2 billion. Shortly after the market opened, strong early demand pushed the stock as high as $24.50, about 36% above the offer price.

The rally proved short-lived. Selling pressure increased through the session, pulling the stock back toward its IPO level. BTGO closed regular trading at $18.49, up around 2.7% on the day. In after-hours trading, the shares hovered near $18.35, leaving the stock only slightly above its debut price.

Market observers said the sharp intraday reversal appeared to reflect short-term positioning and profit-taking rather than a clear reassessment of the company’s valuation. Such swings are common in newly listed crypto-related firms, where sentiment can shift quickly and public-market comparisons remain limited.

Founded in 2013, BitGo is one of the largest US-based crypto custodians, reporting more than $100 billion in assets held on its platform. The company provides custody, wallet infrastructure, staking, and settlement services primarily to institutional clients, a business model that tends to rely less on trading volumes and more on long-term infrastructure and trust.

BitGo’s listing marks the first major crypto-focused IPO of 2026 and comes amid signs of a more stable regulatory environment for digital-asset infrastructure firms in the United States. Investors are expected to watch whether the shares can establish a stable trading range above the offer price as early volatility subsides, potentially setting a reference point for other crypto companies considering public listings.
