BitMEX CEO Alexander Hoeptner Resigns, Stephan Lutz Takes the Interim Role

Fazzaco learned that Alexander Hoeptner has ended his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer at BitMEX, a pioneering cryptocurrency exchange, after spending nearly two years withe the company.

In addition, Stephan Lutz, who joined BitMEX in March 2021, was named interim CEO of the crypto exchange. Stephan will also continue to serve as the CFO of exchange.
"Together with the rest of the management team and our talented staff members, I will make sure that BitMex continues to deliver great, innovative crypto trading products and a secure and stable trading environment for our clients,"Stephan said.
Hoeptner became CEO in early 2021, soon after co-founder and CEO Arthur Hayes, along with other executives, resigned from BitMex's parent company.
In addition to Hoeptner, many executives of crypto company recently departed including Kraken's Jesse Powell, Celsius Network's Alex Mashinsky and FTX US's Brett Harrison. While the reasons for the exits vary, underlying them all is the collapse in crypto prices.
