Broadridge and Fnality Demonstrate Interoperability for Real-Time Repo Settlements
Broadridge Financial Solutions has announced the successful completion of a collaboration with Fnality, a firm specializing in blockchain-based wholesale payments. The joint effort demonstrated the interoperability between Broadridge's Distributed Ledger Repo (DLR) platform and Fnality's Payment System (FnPS). This development showcases the potential of tokenization to transform financial markets by enabling real-time delivery versus payment (DvP) settlement for intraday repo transactions.
The collaboration utilized a digital representation of central bank funds as a settlement mechanism, which is considered a crucial component for the development of digital financial markets. According to Broadridge, this advancement marks a significant step in expanding the interoperability of its DLR platform with digital cash solutions.
Horacio Barakat, Head of Capital Markets Innovation at Broadridge, commented on the achievement: "Together with Fnality, our solution will empower institutions to simplify and optimize their liquidity management, reduce operational risk and drive greater efficiency in repo transactions."
Michelle Neal, CEO of Fnality International, echoed this sentiment, stating, "Fnality and Broadridge are at the forefront of this evolution, providing the critical infrastructure needed to support accelerated settlement and unlock new efficiencies across global financial markets."
This initiative is seen as a significant development towards achieving greater efficiency, liquidity, and risk reduction in both the U.S. and European financial markets. It also aligns with Broadridge's strategy to expand its DLR client base in Europe and Fnality's plans to extend its regulated DLT-based payment system beyond the UK, with the U.S. identified as a key market.
