Broadridge to Acquire CQG’s Core Trading Technology Business
Broadridge Financial Solutions (NYSE: BR) has reached an agreement to acquire CQG’s core global trading technology business, strengthening its presence in futures and options trading technology. CQG provides execution management systems, market connectivity, and analytics for derivatives markets.
The transaction is expected to close during Broadridge’s fiscal fourth quarter, between April and June. Financial terms were not disclosed, and Broadridge said it does not anticipate a material impact on its financial results from the acquisition.
Broadridge stated that integrating CQG’s capabilities will expand its existing suite of order management and connectivity services, adding execution management, algorithmic trading, and analytics tools for futures and options markets.
“Integrating CQG’s advanced execution management, analytics, and connectivity technologies with Broadridge’s leading order management and connectivity solutions will create a unified platform in futures and options that simplifies trading complexity, improves transparency and workflow efficiency, and strengthens Broadridge’s digital asset trading capabilities,” said Frank Troise, President of Broadridge’s Trading and Connectivity Solutions business.
Following the acquisition, Broadridge expects to broaden its offering to a range of market participants, including futures commission merchants, institutional investors, retail brokers, proprietary trading firms, commodity trading advisers, and hedge funds.
Broadridge said its technology and operations platforms process and generate more than seven billion communications annually and support average daily trading volumes exceeding $15 trillion across asset classes. CQG, meanwhile, provides direct market access to more than 45 exchanges and has recently partnered with several brokers to enhance their futures and options services.
The deal comes amid growing interest among trading firms and platforms in expanding futures and options capabilities. In recent years, several major industry players have pursued acquisitions or product launches in the segment, reflecting increasing demand from both institutional and retail participants.
