Carla Nemr, Global Head of Business Development at Tickmill: Importance of Financial Shows & Educational Events

As Tickmill's Global Head of Business Development, Carla Nemr strives to identify new business opportunities and growth areas while ensuring each market's needs are met in the most efficient way. She has been in the retail brokerage sector for over a decade, holding key positions in the areas of Sales and Business Development with reputable firms like Alpari, FXTM and Amana Capital.
This May, when Tickmill was attending iFX EXPO Dubai, Carla sat down with Fazzaco and had a Q&A where she spoke on a number of trending topics. In the coming September, Tickmill will attend the virtual show, BrokersShow Vietnam. Fazzaco once again took the chance and invited her back for another chat.
Fazzaco: Tickmill attended the BrokersShow Malaysia Virtual Expo this June, how was it? Do you have any special plans made for the BrokersShow this time?
Carla: Attending international financial expos is part of our commitment to building meaningful relationships with existing and potential clients and partners, and the BrokersShow Malaysia Virtual Expo was no exception!
With a brilliant concept aligned with the needs of this Covid era, the BrokerShow attracted more than 10,000 participants, making it a rather successful expo. Expos are a great way to get to know our clients, understand their needs, and exchange ideas.
BrokerShow Vietnam will be held on 9-10 September 2021 and we are very excited about it as it will enable us to find valuable partners, enhance relationships, expand our reach, and showcase our brand.
Fazzaco: MetaQuotes has been encouraging users to use MT5. Does Tickmill have any plan to switch to MT5?
Carla: Yes, actually we do! Tickmill's MT5 is now available for all traders.
We believe that providing the MT5 platform in addition to the MT4 would add value to our clients' trading experience by offering them those extra possibilities powered by a next generation trading platform.
The move to launch MT5 came as a result of an increasing shift in market interest towards multi-asset trading and flexible platform solutions. Traders will now benefit from a more powerful trading experience with a greater variety of technical indicators and graphical objects as well as customisable charts.
Fazzaco: Tickmill just had its first physical forex education event Meet & Greet, which was a great success. Is there any planning for your trading education business in the near future?
Carla: Education is the key to trading success. Tickmill's mission is to assist traders to succeed, so our focus is always on traders, by sponsoring educational events for traders around the world.
Our recent sponsored Meet & Greet educational event in Brazil was indeed a great success, with dozens of forex enthusiasts. The event took place in Caxias do Sul in Brazil and provided attendees with the opportunity to get acquainted with the trading realm, meet with fellow traders and experts in the region, and learn directly from market specialists.
We realized that there is a thirst for more forex educational events after the great success from our first event, therefore our Meet & Greet was just the beginning of an educational series we hope to sponsor in the near future.
Continuing our educational mission, we are excited to sponsor an educational seminar in Madrid on September 17th titled "Live Trade the News on the Floor with Carlos Valverde".
Fazzaco: What is the relationship between Tickmill and Tickmill Prime? Does Tickmill obtain liquidity from Tickmill Prime?
Carla: Tickmill mantra is putting clients first. Always. Consequently, we felt the need to go above and beyond what was expected of us to satisfy the needs of our institutional clients. And this is how Tickmill Prime came to light, just about two years ago!
Tickmill Prime is designed to provide brokers, banks, hedge funds, money managers and professional traders with access to premium FX and CFD liquidity, advanced technology and turnkey white label solutions. Regulated by the FCA UK, we have invested heavily in our infrastructure in Equinix London, New York and Tokyo data centres to ensure a seamless trading environment for our clients.
Fazzaco: Tickmill was once a start-up too. In your opinion, what role does white label play in a start-up? How should a start-up choose its white label provider?
Carla: Good question. The struggle of startups is often exacerbated by lack of liquidity, inefficient procedures, and inadequate tools; all key factors for success. This is exactly where a white label provider comes into play and saves the day (and the headaches!)
Operating in a fast-paced industry, such as forex and CFD trading, requires a reliable partner with stability and service quality. Tickmill gives you the opportunity to start your own brokerage business in an easy and cost-efficient way and get all the tools you need to succeed, as it provides consistent liquidity and helps market participants throughout the world obtain the best prices in the various asset classes we cover, regardless of changing market conditions.
As you rightfully mentioned, Tickmill was once a start-up - a broker that has been built by traders for traders. Therefore it is safe to say that we understand the challenges start-ups have to face. Our goal and promise is to help our clients increase their resilience and competitiveness by providing cutting edge and reliable services.
Fazzaco: What is your idea on the Southeast Asia market, Vietnam in particular?
Carla: With the majority of Southeast Asia's countries fueled by emerging economies, the region could undoubtedly be classified as a promising market.
Forex and CFD trading are gaining popularity in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries, due to the region's youthful population seeking financial success.
Our emphasis is to ensure that our Southeast Asian traders have a successful trading year by offering educational events, seminars, webinars, exhibitions, and many other resources.
