Cboe FX Markets Sees Lowest Monthly Trading Volumes in December 2022
Cboe FX Markets, a foreign exchange provider to the institutions, has released its monthly trading volume numbers for December 2022, showing the lowest turnover in spot FX this year.
Specifically, Cboe FX witnessed a total trading volume of $773 billion during December 2022, decreasing by 16% month-on-month from $921 billion in November 2022. However, that figure has increased by 13% on a yearly basis when compared with $681 billion in December 2021.
Moreover, the institutional FX trading venue registered $35.1 billion in the average daily trading volume (ADV) this month, down 16% month-on-month from $41.8 billion in November 2022. On a yearly basis, the ADV numbers has however rised by 19% from $29.6 billion last year.
According to the daily volumes last month, the holiday season has slowed down the trading activities since the the monthly peak of about $57.7 million was generated on the first day of the month while the volume was at its lowest on the day after Christmas.
In addition, Deutsche Börse's 360T also saw a dip in the monthly volume in December, which presented an industry trend due to the holiday season.
In november 2022, Cboe FX Markets witnessed 18.6% yearly jump in total volume.
