Cboe Global Markets, Inc. announced that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved its filing to begin offering extended trading hours for select multi-listed equity options. The Cboe Options Exchange plans to implement the extended hours on July 13, 2026, pending a related rule filing approval.

The new schedule will include a pre-market session from 7:30 a.m. ET to 9:25 a.m. ET and a post-market session from 4:00 p.m. ET to 4:15 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. Approximately 20 high-volume securities, including stocks from the Magnificent 7 such as Nvidia, Tesla, and Apple, as well as names like Palantir, Broadcom and AMD, are anticipated to be available at launch.

Meaghan Dugan, Head of U.S. Derivatives at Cboe, stated, "Today's SEC approval marks an important milestone for the U.S. options industry. By launching first with a select group of single-name options, we are deliberately taking a measured approach to help ensure market safeguards and investor protections remain in place."

This initiative expands Cboe's efforts to meet international investor demand through extended hours. The exchange currently offers near 24×5 trading via its Global Trading Hours and Curb Trading Hours for several proprietary index options. Volumes in these extended sessions reached record levels in Q1 2026, rising 32% year-over-year, partly driven by Asia-Pacific demand.

The extended hours aim to allow investors to better manage positions around market-moving events outside regular sessions. Eligibility criteria require options to have an average daily volume of 150,000 contracts, underlying equity market capitalization of $50 billion, and underlying equity average daily trading volume of 10 million shares over the preceding six months. Cboe expects to update the list of eligible options semi-annually.
