CFTC Agrees to Dismiss Manipulation Lawsuit Against Logista Advisors
The legal proceedings between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Logista Advisors LLC, along with its principal Andrew Harris Serotta, have officially concluded. The parties informed the Illinois Northern District Court of their agreement to dismiss the civil action with prejudice, effective December 16, 2025.
The presiding judge, The Honorable John F. Kness, acknowledged the resolution, stating, "I commend the parties and counsel for their settlement efforts, and I thank Magistrate Judge Gilbert for presiding over the case on referral."
The regulator originally filed the lawsuit in September 2023. The amended complaint alleged that between January and April 2020, Logista and Serotta engaged in "manipulative and deceptive acts and practices" within the natural gas and crude oil futures markets.
The CFTC had accused the defendants of placing hundreds of orders with the intent to cancel them prior to execution. The regulator claimed this strategy was designed to send false signals of increased buying or selling interest to trick other market participants, thereby allowing the defendants to execute orders on the opposite side of the book at advantageous prices.
