3.Supportive Organizations
3.1Institutions of Higher Learning
Compared with our foreign peers, China still lacks high-end talents. As blockchain has been elevated to a national-level strategy, it is necessary to add blockchain courses to the curriculum in institutions of higher learning. In 2016, Tsinghua University opened related courses, followed by many other institutions of higher learning in the next few years, particularly in 2018.
By November 10, 2019, about 30 institutions of higher learning in China has provided students with blockchain-related courses, most of which are located in Beijing and Shanghai. It is reasonable to expect a rosy picture about China’s academic atmosphere in blockchain.
3.2R&D Institutions
The 21st Century is a knowledge age where innovative industries, represented by blockchain and AI, are dependent on the services provided by R&D institutions, alliances, and other organizations. China now has 68 blockchain R&D institutions and most of them are institutions of higher learning and enterprises located in cosmopolitan cities. Nevertheless, China still falls short of a national-level blockchain institution.
3.3 Industrial Parks
Incomplete statistics show that by October 2019, China has 26 blockchain industrial parks concentrating in four regions. 11 are located in the Yangtze River Delta, 4 in the Pearl River Delta, 3 in the Bohai Economic Rim, and 7 in the middle and western part of China. A blockchain pilot zone has been established in Hainan Province.
