Citi Appoints Tokiya Kishie as New Head of Markets for Japan

Citi has announced the appointment of Tokiya Kishie as the new head of markets for Japan, effective October 1. In this role, Kishie is tasked with driving growth and leading the markets franchise within one of the world's most competitive financial environments. He will report directly to Paul Smith, who oversees markets for Japan, Asia North, and the Australia cluster, as well as Robert Nakamura, Citi's country officer and banking head for Japan.
Kishie brings over a decade of experience at Citi, having joined the firm in 2010. He has held various roles in rates, foreign exchange (FX), and X-Value adjustment businesses, operating in key financial centers including Tokyo, New York, and London. His most recent position was as the head of fixed income structuring for Japan, where he played a critical role in shaping Citi's strategy in that sector.
With a career spanning nearly 20 years, Kishie has also gained valuable experience at prominent firms such as Nomura, Lehman Brothers, and Tokyo Star Bank. This extensive background equips him with the insights needed to navigate the complexities of the Japanese market, which serves a diverse clientele that includes corporates, institutional investors, and government entities.
