Citigroup Rolls Out Digital Assets Group to Enter the Crypto Industry
Fazzaco learned that Citigroup has officially launched a new business unit, Digital Assets Group, to enter the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.
Digital Assets Group will sit within its wealth management division, Citi Global Wealth Investments. The new unit will be led by Alex Kriete and Greg Girasole.
Kriete and Girsole will work on developing products and work in tandem with their functional partners and the broader Capital Markets and Citi Investment Management teams to develop a robust and scalable value proposition.
As Fazzaco reported in May, Citi has considered to launch crypto services to respond to the rising interest of clients. The banking giant also planned to provide cryptocurrency trading, custody, and financing services. At that time, Itay Tuchman, Citi’s global head of foreign exchange, elaborated that Citi will not rush with its decision to enter into the crypto space.
