Clearstream Reports Slight Fall in Assets Under Custody in December 2022

Clearstream, a leading European provider of post-trade services which is wholly owned by Deutsche Börse, has released its monthly figures for December 2022, indicating slight decrease in its total assets under custody.
More specifically, the company posted that its assets under custody hit EUR 16,713 billion, 1 percent lower than the previous year's EUR 16,876 billion.
Regarding the international business (ICSD), the number of securities deposits approached EUR 7,918 billion, up 5 percent than the prior year's EUR 7,546 billion. The number of transactions was 6 percent lower than the same period in 2021.
In terms of Clearstream's domestic business (CSD), the number of securities deposits came in at EUR 5,651 billion, 4 percent lower than the same period in 2021. Moreover, the number of transactions stood at 13.1 million, down 22 percent on a YoY basis.
In addition, as for the investment funds services (IFS), the number of securities deposits reached EUR 3,145 billion, showing a decrease of 9 percent compared to December 2021. Furthermore, the number of transactions decreased by 20 percent to 3.4 million.
