Clearstream Reports Slight Fall in Securities Deposits in May 2022

Fazzaco learned that Clearstream, a leading post-trade services provider in Europe, has issued its monthly figures for May 2022, indicating slight fall in both international and domestic securities deposits.
ICSD, Clearstream's international business, saw its securities deposits decline by 1% from €7,749 billion in April to €7,670 billion. However, the total number of securities deposit transactions during this period at the ICSD increased 2% from 5.7 million to 5.8 million on a month-on-month basis.
At the domestic level, Clearstream's securities deposits (CSD) dropped by 1.1% from €5,653 billion to €5,592 billion (MoM), with little substantial change when compared to last May. On the contrary, the number of transaction at CSD jumped 12% from April's 13.5 million to 15.1, and rose by 8% compared with last May.
The number of transactions in Investment Fund Service (IFS) showed an increase of 6% on a MoM basis, rising from 3.6 million to 3.8 million. While its securities deposits dropped by 3%, falling from €3,329 billion to €3,217 billion.
Compared with April's data, the total Assets under Custody of Clearstream declined from €16,731 billion to €16,479 billion, showing a decrease of 2%.
On the global side, the volume of Clearstream's securities financing rose from €591.5 billion in April to €595.9 billion, which was a slight increase on a MoM basis.
