Clearstream to Sell Half of Its Stake in REGIS-TR to SIX

Europe-based post-trading services supplier Clearstream said on Friday that it is selling a 50% share in REGIS-TR, the European trade repository, to its joint venture partner Iberclear, a SIX company. SIX now has complete control of the company as a consequence of the acquisition.
Clearstream took the decision to sell as part of its ongoing strategic evaluation of its company portfolio. In accordance with the Compass 2023 strategy, future strategic initiatives will focus on increasing custody services and further strengthening the company's leadership position in funds services.
"In the course of nearly eleven years, REGIS-TR has evolved into a great success story in the European trade repositories market, with a compelling and well-established offering. We are very proud of what we have achieved together with our partner Iberclear and we wish them continued success," said Stephan Leithner, Clearstream Chairman and member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG.
"We are very happy to now fully integrate the REGIS-TR business, which has already been an integral part of BME's business portfolio. We look forward to taking the business into its next phase of development within SIX. We are delighted to now fully welcome the entire REGIS-TR team and their talent and expertise to SIX," added Javier Hernani, Head Securities Services & member of Executive Board.
The deal was signed on Friday and will be completed in the first half of 2022. The acquisition's financial details have not been revealed.
