CLS Group Reports $1.98 Trillion Daily Trade Volume in FX Markets for February

CLS Group, a major settlement provider in the FX market, has published some key trading metrics for February, showing a slight uptick in demand for spot and swap.

The average daily traded volumes on the platform touched $1.98 trillion last month. That was a year-on-year jump of 2 percent while increasing 5.5 percent on a monthly basis.

CLS's services in the FX market can be categorized into three segments: forward, swap and spot. The average daily traded volume (ADV) for FX forwards came in at $108 billion, which increased from the ADV in January 2022 at $94 billion but slipped from the ADV in February 2021 at $115 billion. It was the only trading segment where demand went down on a yearly basis.

ADV with FX swaps came in at $1.36 trillion, which remained the highest in absolute terms. This figure increased by almost 2 percent when compared with the previous month, while the yearly uptick was 0.4 percent.

In addition, spot trading demand grew by around 13 percent from the ADV of January, while the increase was 7 percent when compared with the same month of the previous year. In absolute terms, spot trading ADV for February came in at $514 billion.
