CLS Group Reports MoM Rise in FX Volumes for September 2020

eab17a1a7f819bbb4d56e5ce54e61bd.jpegCLS Group, the world’s leading provider of FX settlement services and the market infrastructure provider of risk mitigation services to the global FX market, today announced the release of its operating metrics on FX trading for September 2020.  CLS went through a slight volume increase in September, compared to the previous month.

Key findings from the September review published by CLS show that average daily traded volume (ADV) up 8.2 percent to $1.785 trillion, from $1.649 trillion in August, but down 3 percent relative to September 2019's figure of $1.84 trillion.

In September, the institutional venue reported $1.25 trillion was FX swap, representing a 5.2 percent rise over the monthly interval when compared to $1.188 trillion in August 2020. Over a yearly basis, the swap turnover slightly downed 7 percent compared to September 2019, which came at $1.342 trillion.

Global FX forward volumes surged to $108 billion, up 40.3% on a month-on-month basis. As for FX spot, the volumes achieved $427 billion, rebound 11.2% from the last month, which was  $384 billion. Across a yearly timetable, the figure of FX forward and FX spot recorded an increase of 14.9% and 5.2%, respectively.

At a currency pair level, the increase can be attributed to a significant increase in volumes for the following currency pairs: EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCAD and AUDUSD.
