CLS Reports FX ADTV of $1.901Tn for August 2023, Down 4.3% MoM

Continuous Linked Settlement (CLS), a forex settlement and aggregation service company, updated its forex trading data for August 2023, registering the average daily traded volume (ADTV) submitted to CLS of $1.901 trillion, a decrease of 4.3% compared to $1.986 trillion in July 2023 and an increase of 7.0% compared to $1.776 trillion in August 2022.

Breaking it down further, ADTV of FX forward recorded $182 billion for the month, dropping by 15.3% compared to $215 billion in the prior month but rising by 54.2% compared to $118 billion in the same period of last year.

ADTV of FX swap of the month increased by 4.2% from $1.228 trillion to $1.280 trillion on a year-on-year basis, unchanged with the figure for the prior month.

Trading volume of FX spot for the period came in at $439 billion per day, 2.1% higher than the ADTV of $430 billion in August of last year and 10.6% lower than $491 billion in July 2023.
