The outcome was driven by an institutional-first strategy, expansion via wholesale partnerships, and a diversified multi-asset business.

The company reported a 15% year-on-year increase in net operating income to £392.6 million. Statutory profit before tax rose 20% to £101.3 million, marking its strongest operational performance since FY 2021, excluding the Covid period.

This momentum led the board to issue FY 2027 net operating income guidance of £460 million to £480 million, implying expected growth of at least 17% year-on-year. The structural drivers behind these figures provide deeper insight into the company's strategy.

The main performance driver has been the rapid expansion of its B2B operations. Leveraging nearly four decades of investment in institutional-grade infrastructure, CMC is now deploying API connectivity to accelerate growth across multiple markets.

The effectiveness of this approach is evident in a neobank API partnership, where account openings surged by 2,400% in under a year. This model enables expansion into markets with little direct presence, with 70% of new accounts from regions where CMC previously had no meaningful footprint.

Critically, CMC is using the scale of its institutional business to fund a renewed push into retail. The company stated it is using wholesale business revenue to fund its direct-to-consumer strategy.

Rather than relying on costly digital marketing for client acquisition, CMC has built a capital allocation strategy centered on four key operational pillars.
