CME Group, the world's leading derivatives marketplace, announced that it will expand its suite of event contracts to include Bitcoin futures on March 13, pending regulator approval.

The Group offers event contracts in a growing number of its benchmark futures markets, which include gold, silver, crude oil, natural gas, E-mini S&P 500, E-mini Dow Jones Industrial Average, euro-U.S. dollar foreign exchange futures and more.

Tim McCourt, Global Head of Equity and FX Products at CME Group, stated the addition of its new event contracts on Bitcoin futures provides investors with a transparent and easy way to access cryptocurrency market. He added: "These contracts, which track the daily price moves of our deeply liquid benchmark Bitcoin futures, offer an innovative, lower-cost way for investors to trade their views on the up or down price moves of bitcoin."

Last week, the Group released its financial results for the full year and the fourth quarter of 2022, with average daily trading volume reaching record highs of 23.3 million contracts for the full year and 21.8 million contracts for the fourth quarter.
