Teams can register until 5:00 p.m. CT on September 25, with the competition running from October 5 to October 31.

The program allows students to manage mock investment portfolios while navigating market risks using a professional trading interface provided by CQG. Participants access real-time market information and news updates to support trading decisions, simulating the operational environment of professional derivatives markets.

In previous years, the challenge attracted participation from hundreds of universities across multiple countries, with teams managing portfolios under guidance from faculty advisors. The event provides a structured framework for understanding risk management, asset allocation, and market response strategies.

CME Group’s global derivatives infrastructure includes futures and options trading across major asset classes, cash and OTC markets, electronic platforms such as CME Globex, and clearing services through CME Clearing. The group aims to integrate educational initiatives like the University Trading Challenge with broader market operations, providing students practical insight into derivatives trading, portfolio management, and the mechanics of electronic and cleared markets.
