Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, noted that gold has long been a favored investment, but recent years have seen a notable increase in retail participation in the market. The introduction of 1-Ounce Gold futures is expected to provide more options for retail traders, enhancing their ability to access liquidity and efficiency in trading.

Steve Sanders, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Interactive Brokers, expressed support for the new contract, highlighting its potential to help clients manage their exposure to precious metals transparently. The 1-Ounce Gold futures will allow investors to diversify their holdings while minimizing costs associated with political and economic uncertainties.

Isaac Cahaha, CEO of Plus500US, remarked on the significance of the 1-Ounce Gold futures in providing a flexible and cost-effective way for global customers to engage with gold investments. This new offering reflects the ongoing demand for gold in various market conditions.

The introduction of this smaller-sized futures contract is also seen as a step towards making gold trading more accessible to a broader range of investors. Teyu Che Chern, CEO of Phillip Nova, indicated that gold is increasingly recognized as an important element of a diversified investment portfolio.

CME Group's existing Micro Gold and Micro Silver futures have already gained traction, achieving record participation levels this year. The average daily volume for Micro Gold futures has reached 105,000 contracts, while Micro Silver futures have seen an average of 19,000 contracts traded daily.

The forthcoming 1-Ounce Gold futures will be settled financially based on the daily settlement price of the global benchmark Gold futures contract and will be listed under the rules of COMEX. This move is part of CME Group's broader strategy to enhance its offerings in the metals market and respond to evolving investor needs.

As a major player in the derivatives marketplace, CME Group facilitates trading across various asset classes, including futures, options, and over-the-counter markets. It aims to assist market participants in managing risk and capitalizing on investment opportunities.
