CME Group's Single-Day Volume of FX Futures and Options Hits New High

CME Group, the world's leading derivatives marketplace, disclosed recently that on March 8, its foreign exchange (FX) futures and options achieved a new single-day volume record of 3.15 million contracts, equivalent to $296 billion in USD notional.
The above figure was 5 percent higher over the prior record in last September of 3 million contracts. Besides, the group’s several currencies, including Euro FX futures and Canadian Dollar FX futures, also reached trading records of 1.1 million and 264,000, respectively.
"We are pleased to see strong momentum in our FX futures and options products as our clients turn to our deep liquidity to manage their currency exposure amid ongoing market uncertainty," said Paul Houston, Global Head of FX Products, CME Group.
"We are pleased to offer clients the flexibility of both our highly liquid, central limit order book, as well as disclosed, OTC-style block and EFRP trading now supported by more than 20 liquidity providers."
Last month, CME Group reported that the group had its best year last year in 2022 and best Q4 ever. This was due to global market participants turned to the group to navigate tremendous economic and geopolitical uncertainty, according to Terry Duffy, CME Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
