Coinbase Establishes Singapore Engineering Hub

Coinbase announced today the launch of a new Engineering Hub in Singapore, designed to bolster the local blockchain ecosystem and enhance access to crypto-based financial solutions. Established in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the Hub aims to empower Singaporean engineers to contribute to the growth of the on-chain economy.

Philbert Gomez, Executive Director & Head, Digital Industry Singapore, welcomed the launch, remarking, "Coinbase's new Engineering Hub is an exciting addition to Singapore's digital industry...and underscores our status as a hub for responsible blockchain innovation." This initiative aligns with Singapore's broader Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2024 Plan, which dedicates 1% of GDP toward building a robust R&D landscape.

Coinbase's new Hub will support talent development through resources and specialized training, reinforcing Singapore's reputation as a global center for blockchain technology. The Hub aims to attract and develop engineers and innovators, with plans to expand Coinbase's current team of 70 employees in Singapore. By upskilling local talent in emerging financial technology, Singapore intends to remain at the forefront of digital finance.
