Conotoxia Files Criminal Complaint Against Polish Financial Supervision Authority
Conotoxia has lodged a formal notice of suspicion of criminal activities with the National Prosecutor's Office, targeting several employees of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (FSA) and the president of a banking institution. The company alleges that these individuals engaged in lobbying efforts aimed at revoking its license.
The allegations against the FSA employees include significant breaches of administrative law in the license revocation process and dissemination of false information. Additionally, Conotoxia claims that there was undue pressure applied to expedite the implementation of inspection recommendations, including the handling of correspondence. The company also accuses the FSA of publicly disclosing confidential information related to ongoing proceedings and filing a false report regarding a suspected crime. Furthermore, there are suspicions of espionage activities involving an FSA employee and the bank president, allegedly benefiting a foreign state.
According to the holding's owners, the actions described have resulted in losses amounting to several billion PLN, prompting a demand for prosecution of all parties involved.
In a related development, Conotoxia has indicated that it has been in communication with representatives from the Internal Security Agency due to increasing concerns about cyber threats amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions and the war in Ukraine. The company received a verbal warning about potential hybrid attacks, and while it faced cyber-attacks targeting its infrastructure, these were effectively thwarted by its security systems.
Conotoxia further expressed its astonishment at the actions taken by the FSA and the bank president, which it argues pose a significant risk to its operations and could lead to the firm's exit from the payment services market. In light of these events, the company is demanding the immediate suspension of the implicated FSA employees and is calling on Prime Minister Donald Tusk to dismiss officials responsible for the license revocation, as they remain in their positions, complicating the company's ability to defend itself.
Additionally, Conotoxia is urging the Polish Parliament to establish a special investigative committee to scrutinize the decisions made by the FSA that have adversely affected the company. The firm believes that the irregularities discovered during the administrative proceedings may reflect severe violations that undermine the interests of Polish entrepreneurs and consumers, as well as the overall security of the financial market.
