Crypto Worth £114 million Seized by Met Police in UK

The UK Metropolitan Police's Economic Crime Command made another important strike by seizing a significant number of cryptocurrencies, topping the previous one on June 24, covered by Fazzaco earlier. The authorities allegedly made the world's largest crypto confiscation, worth £114 million (US$249 million) in unnamed coins, according to the announcement.

On June 24, a 39-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offenses, but she was freed on bail, according to UK officials. However, after discovering about £180 million worth of cryptocurrency last Saturday, the unnamed woman was interrogated by authorities. Despite this, she has been bailed until an unspecified date in July.
The operation this time was carried out as part of the ongoing investigation into this international money laundering case.
"Less than a month ago, we successfully seized £114million in cryptocurrency. Our investigation since then has been complex and wide-ranging. We have worked hard to trace this money and identify the criminality it may be linked to. Today's seizure is another significant landmark in this investigation which will continue for months to come as we hone in on those at the center of this suspected money laundering operation," Joe Ryan, Detective Constable, said.
