Current Westpac New Zealand CEO to Retire in June

Westpac Group, an Australian bank and financial services provider, today announced that David McLean, currently served as Chief Executive Officer of Westpac New Zealand Limited, will be retiring after spending over 20 years with the Group.
According to the official announcement, David will remain in the role until 25 June after which time Simon Power, General Manager Institutional & Business Banking will act as CEO, subject to regulatory approval, while a global search is completed.
As seen on his Linkedin profile, David joined Westpac New Zealand in 1999. During his time at the Group, David held various senior roles across retail and institutional banking, and then in February 2015, he was appointed as CEO of Westpac New Zealand Limited. Prior to arriving at Westpac, David worked at Deutsche Bank for more than 4 years. Over the course of his career, he has also served at Natwest NZ, where he spent for 3 years.
Commenting on this change, Peter King, Westpac Group CEO, said:“David has been with Westpac for more than two decades and has held a number of senior roles in that time. He has made a significant contribution to the company, including playing a pivotal role in driving growth in the New Zealand business while lifting the bank’s support for New Zealanders. I wish David all the best for his retirement.”
