Fazzaco just learned that the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) today issued an urgent warning regarding fraudulent websites and email addresses that are falsely presenting themselves as official channels of the Commission. According to CySEC, the websites "cysecgov.org" and "cysecgov.cc" are not affiliated with the Commission in any way. Additionally, the email address "supportcenter@cysecgov.org" has been identified as a fraudulent contact.

These malicious websites and email addresses are being used to deceive individuals by pretending to be CySEC representatives. The scammers are reportedly approaching investors, claiming they can arrange the recovery of losses incurred from investments under CySEC's supervision, and demanding fees for their services.

CySEC has observed an increase in fraudulent activities where individuals impersonate CySEC representatives via email and fake social media accounts on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, Viber, and WhatsApp. In response, CySEC has advised the public to remain cautious and vigilant.

To help the public distinguish legitimate communications from scams, CySEC provided several key reminders:

  • CySEC does not contact individuals via unsolicited correspondence, telephone calls, or request personal or financial information.

  • Investors should verify the authenticity of any communication that appears to be from CySEC by sending an email to info@cysec.gov.cy before taking any further action.

  • Official CySEC email addresses end in "cysec.gov.cy." However, fraudsters may attempt to disguise their web addresses to mimic legitimate ones.

  • CySEC does not have the authority to collect fees from investors for any purpose, nor does it appoint individuals to do so on its behalf.

  • The Commission does not engage in or authorize class actions, compensation schemes, or financial transactions between entities.

  • CySEC regularly issues warnings and updates about unregulated entities and impersonations of its representatives, which can be accessed on its official website.
