CySEC Warns Against Scammers Posing as Representatives

The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) has issued an urgent warning to investors regarding a surge in fraudulent activities involving individuals impersonating CySEC officers. These scammers have reportedly contacted investors via email and online platforms such as TrustPilot and Google Business, offering to facilitate the recovery of investment losses in exchange for fees.
CySEC has clarified that it does not initiate unsolicited communications, collect fees, or request personal or financial information from investors. The regulator also emphasized that it has no authority to engage in compensation schemes, class actions, or facilitate payments between entities. Investors are advised to verify any correspondence claiming to be from CySEC by contacting the regulator directly at its official email address, info@cysec.gov.cy.
The agency also highlighted cases where fraudsters have created fake email addresses resembling CySEC's official domain, urging the public to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to such schemes. "Our priority is to protect investors from these deceptive practices," a CySEC spokesperson stated.
To combat these scams, CySEC has deployed advanced social media monitoring tools capable of identifying misleading content in real time across multiple languages. These tools enable the regulator to address false posts from financial firms and influencers, safeguarding investors from potential harm.
CySEC urges the public to remain cautious of unsolicited communications and report any suspicious activity. This proactive approach is part of CySEC's broader effort to maintain transparency and trust in the financial sector while ensuring investor protection.
