Dekabank Launches Crypto Services for Institutional Clients

Dekabank, a leading German investment bank, has officially launched cryptocurrency trading and custody services for institutional clients, marking a significant step into the digital asset space. The move follows nearly two years of development and comes after the bank secured a crypto custody license from Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Dekabank will operate its new services under the oversight of the European Central Bank (ECB).
Martin K. Müller, a board member at Dekabank, highlighted the bank's preparedness for this venture, stating, "We have the necessary experience, required licenses, and a tested, ready-to-use infrastructure to support savings banks and our institutional clients." The bank's entry into the crypto market is being promoted with a strong focus on security and regulatory compliance, according to Bloomberg.
The launch positions Dekabank as one of the few traditional financial institutions in Germany to offer such services, catering to the growing demand for regulated and secure crypto solutions among institutional investors.
