Deutsche Börse has released its cash market trading volumes for 2022, showing that the turnover of the exchange in the first seven months of the year is close to its turnover for the whole year of 2021.

Specifically, from January to July in 2022, the trading volume of  Deutsche Börse, which mainly consists of three trading platforms Xetra, Börse Frankfurt and Tradegate Exchange, reached €1.8 trilllion, while the total order book turnover for 2021 was €1.9 trillion.

SAP SE, Commerzbank AG, Nordex SE and 2G Energy AG were the most actively traded stocks in the German indices DAX, MDAX, SDAX und Scale All Share last year.

In 2022, the stock with the highest trading volume on Xetra within the DAX was SAP SE, reaching €59.9 billion, followed by Linde plc and Allianz SE, with €57.8 billion and €56.8 billion respectively.

Commerzbank AG led the MDAX in 2022 with €13.9 billion, while Nordex led the SDAX with €3.0 billion.

In the SME segment Scale, 2G Energy accounted for the largest deal share in this market last year with a trading volume of €200 million.

In the ETF segment, the iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF generated the largest volume on Xetra with €11.6 billion in the year 2022.

The Germany securities markets operator said it had stopped including Tradegate's trading volumes in its trade data calculations in August 2022 as the exchange "is no longer consolidated due to changes in the ownership structure".

In December 2022, Deutsche Börse's order book turnover totaled €92 billion, a 41.2% decrease from €156.6 billion in the same period last year (excluding Tradegate Exchange), and a 20.1% decrease from the previous month's €115.1 billion. Among them, €89.8 billion was attributable to Xetra and €2.2 billion to Börse Frankfurt. The average daily turnover on Xetra in the month was €4.3 billion, down 28.3% compared to €6 billion in December 2021, and down 15.7% compared to €5.1 billion in the previous month.
