Diego De Giorgi to Become Group CFO of StanChart, Effective Jan. 3

Diego De Giorgi, who joined Standard Chartered in September 2023 as Group Chief Financial Officer Designate, will officially take on the role on January 3, 2024.

Diego will take over the realm from Andy Halford, who will resign from the bank as Group CFO on 2 January 2024 and will continue as a Senior Adviser to the Group until his retirement on 31 August 2024.

Diego has been in financial services for more than three decades working across UK, Europe, the US, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Most recently, he was the Co-Chief Executive of Pegasus Europe, Europe’s largest-ever Special Purpose Acquisition Company. Prior to that, he was an independent non-executive director of UniCredit.

Between 2013 and 2019, Diego held leadership roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, including the Co-Head then Head of Global Investment Banking from 2015 to 2019 and the Co-Head of Corporate & Investment Banking for the EMEA region between 2013 and 2015.

In addition, he spent more than eighteen years at Goldman Sachs, working in senior roles across the Equity Capital Markets and Financial Institutions Groups in London. He then rose to the Chief Operating Officer for the company's Investment Banking division.

In October, StanChart has appointed​ Vinay Gandhi as its global head of South Asian community and regional head of Africa, Middle East and Europe private banking.
