DTCC Announces US Trades Successfully Processed Using DTC-Tokenized Assets

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced the successful conversion of assets held at The Depository Trust Company (DTC) into tokens, which were subsequently used in real-world production trades. The tokenized transactions, processed on July 15, mark a significant milestone ahead of the planned launch of the DTCC Tokenization Service in October 2026.
More than 30 firms representing traditional finance and digital market participants took part. The initiative highlighted broad industry engagement and the service's capabilities. The digital conversions occurred on HyperLedger Besu and Canton networks, reflecting DTCC's multi-chain strategy for resiliency and scalability.
The DTCC Tokenization Service issues tokenized representations of real-world assets for delivery to DTC Participant wallets. This allows for conversion between traditional and tokenized forms, providing participants access to new liquidity pools and flexible digital asset strategies.
"DTCC demonstrated that we can apply the same institutional rigor to tokenization as we do for traditional assets while continuing to safeguard the integrity and resiliency of the global financial markets," said Frank La Salla, President and CEO of DTCC.
The event featured transactions across various asset classes, including collateral pledge, security lending, U.S. Treasury/repo DVP trades, equity DVP and DVD trades, and central counterparty margin workflows. These transactions validated the service's ability to provide the same protections and operational rigor as traditional infrastructure.
A wide array of market participants joined the initiative, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Citadel Securities, CME Group, Nasdaq, and Microsoft, among others.
"DTCC successfully showcased how tokenization can enable real-time collateral mobility, enhance liquidity and capital efficiency, reduce counterparty risk and support interoperability," said Brian Steele, President of Clearing & Securities Services at DTCC.
"Innovation requires collaboration," said Nadine Chakar, Managing Director and Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets. "DTCC demonstrated that the safest, most direct path to decentralization runs through trusted financial market infrastructures."
This development follows DTC receiving a No-Action Letter from the SEC seven months ago, authorizing the tokenization service. The DTCC Tokenization Service was developed with the DTCC Industry Working Group, which now has over 100 members and partners.
