The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has unveiled plans for a new Funds Centre, a strategic initiative aimed at attracting high-net-worth individuals and companies to bolster its status as the region's premier financial hub.

Salmaan Jaffery, Chief Business Development Officer at DIFC Authority, emphasized that "DIFC's wealth and asset management community continues to experience rapid growth," noting that the Centre has successfully expanded its operations to host over 400 firms, significantly surpassing the UAE financial free-zone market.

The announcement comes at a time when DIFC's hedge fund ecosystem is thriving, with 60 hedge funds now operational, including 44 that are part of the prestigious "billion-dollar club." The new Funds Centre is set to open in the first quarter of 2025, offering tailored solutions to meet the growing demands of hedge fund spinouts and boutique asset management firms. Applicants for the Funds Centre are encouraged to join the waitlist, as placement will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Recent partnerships with organizations such as the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) and the Standards Board for Alternative Investments (SBAI) further demonstrate DIFC's commitment to developing its wealth and asset management sector.

A report by LSEG highlighted Dubai's growing importance as a booking centre, forecasting a 9% increase in assets under management (AUM) in 2023, with the city poised to welcome a significant influx of new millionaires in the coming years. With access to substantial pools of private capital and a stable business environment, DIFC continues to position itself as a pivotal player in the global financial landscape.
